Schools Let Students Bring Their Own Devices, Then Struggle to Keep Up

The Katy Independent School District is one of the many school districts to implement a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program as an affordable way to ensure technology in the classroom. Julie Smith, CDW-G vice president of K-12 education, noted such increased efforts by schools as an attempt to keep up with studentsí demand for technology. She cited a CDW-G report that found 39 percent of students say schools are meeting technology expectations, despite 94 percent using technology at home for class assignments.

Learn Now, Lecture Later

The traditional lecture model is the standard learning method in most American classrooms, but there is growing interest in new learning models that are encouraging students and teachers to "learn now, lecture later."
