CDW-G Donates to Back to School Clothes for Kids Project

On August 25, 2005, CDW Government, Inc. coworkers in Shelton, Conn. sponsored 20 of the 174 children that were recipients of the 2005 Valley United Way's Back to School Clothes for Kids Project at the Irving School in Derby, Conn.

The Valley United Way's Back to School Clothes for Kids Project and a Corporate Volunteer Council "adopt" one local school and works with the administrators, teachers and parents to identify the neediest children. Members of the Corporate Volunteer Council, such as CDW-G, then supply the children with two complete sets of clothes, a new pair of sneakers, a winter coat and a backpack full of school supplies.

Parents provide not only the sizes for their children, but also some background information about the children's interests that are taken into consideration by the corporations as they spend the summer shopping for their students.

In its 10th year, the Back to School Clothes for Kids Project have clothed over 1,000 Valley children and provided them with the tools and incentive to start the new school year on the right foot.
