CDW-G and Discovery Channel School Announce "Win A Wireless Lab" Sweepstakes

Two Companies Launch Initiatives To Help Teachers Integrate Technology Into The Classroom

ORLANDO, FL. - February 5, 2003 Florida Educational Technology Conference - CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), and Discovery Channel School today launched a joint initiative to assist schools in integrating technology into education.

To celebrate the kickoff, the companies announced a "Win A Wireless Lab" Sweepstakes at the Florida Educational Technology Conference. The grand prize is a 20-laptop mobile computer laboratory valued at approximately $40,000. The lab includes donated products from Netgear and Hewlett Packard. CDW-G will provide the winning schools with the same level of customer service as though they purchased the products. This will assist teachers and students in having a great technology experience with the products. Additional prizes include 10 InFocus projectors, 10 HP Ink-Jet Printers and 10 sets of curriculum materials from the Discovery Channel School library.

School IT specialists are encouraged to enter the contest by visiting www.school.discovery.com/cdwg. The deadline for entries is June 30, 2003, and winners will be determined by a random drawing. Complete rules and requirements are available on the website.

As part of the overarching initiative, CDW-G and Discovery will produce a set of curriculum materials designed especially for middle and high school students. The materials, themed "All About Computers," will be sent to 5,000 district-level technology personnel across the United States free of charge. In addition, 50,000 posters depicting how wireless technology works will be mailed to technology specialists at middle and high schools.

"For many schools, the biggest challenge is not acquiring technology, but making the most effective use of technology," said Chris Rother, vice president of state, local and education sales at CDW-G. "We support teachers by giving them resources that enable technology to be a pivotal asset in a well-rounded education."

"Education is all about inspiring students to learn-and giving students and their teachers the tools and guidelines to accomplish that learning," said Paul Thomas, vice president of education at Discovery Communications, Inc. "Our curriculum-focused math and science resources, correlated to national education standards, help students and educators stay up- to-date with the latest breakthroughs in science and technology."
