Nighttime Photography Leads to National Award for Utah High School Student

Kota Ikeda to be recognized at Carnegie Hall with the CDW-G Art Portfolio, Gold Award $10,000 Cash Award for Top Honors in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2007

HERNDON, Va. - April 25, 2007 - CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Corporation [NASDAQ: CDWC] and leading source of Information Technology (IT) solutions to governments and educators, today announced that Kota Ikeda of Sandy, Utah, is one of 12 high-school seniors honored with the National Portfolio Gold Award of The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2007 and a $10,000 cash award from CDW-G. Ikeda joins the ranks of notable Scholastic alumni including Truman Capote, Joyce Carol Oates and Robert Redford. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is administered by the nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

A senior at The Waterford School in Sandy, Utah, Ikeda's winning photographs depict an industrial area at night including railway cars, cement trucks and large holding tanks. "I like to find the comfort in the unfamiliar when I shoot," said Ikeda. "Then I try to capture and convey the sense of ease I feel with it." Ikeda's work will be on display in New York City this summer, and in Washington, D.C. in the fall.

This year marked a turning point for the 84-year-old program as CDW-G partnered with the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers to provide the technology infrastructure needed for over 52,000 participants (grades 7th – 12th grade) to register 110,000 pieces of work. "Not only are we pleased to be a major sponsor, but we're proud to have helped the Alliance convert this venerable program to an online format. In the past, thousands of pieces of original artwork were judged at the Alliance headquarters in New York City. Handling the volume of actual artwork was a challenge. This year, thanks to CDW-G's equipment donation, the Alliance was able to receive submissions electronically and national jurors gathered together to judge the artwork online," said Bob Kirby, CDW-G, senior director K-12. "Not only did the technology infrastructure facilitate the registration process, but the Alliance is now able to digitally archive some truly remarkable works."

Kota Ikeda and the other 11 Portfolio Gold Award Recipients will be honored along with more than 1,100 national award recipients during The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 15.
