CDW-G Exclusive GSA Provider of BioLink Biometric Mouse

U-Match BioLink Mouse Reads Users' Fingerprints, Providing Additional Security, Ease of Use to Federal Government Customers

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - August 28, 2000 - CDW-Government, Inc. (CDW-G), the direct solutions provider of computing technology to the federal government, announced today it is the exclusive General Service Administration (GSA) provider of a new biometric mouse that provides additional security and ease of use by reading its users' fingerprints. The U-Match BioLink Mouse® is available through CDW-G on the GSA Federal Supply Schedule.

The U-Match BioLink Mouse contains a sophisticated fingerprint reader built into a standard two- button computer mouse. This eliminates the need for computer passwords and entry codes. Unlike other fingerprint scanner products, the BioLink Authentication System does not store an image of a fingerprint, which has been cited as a privacy concern by end users. Instead, the matching process relies on a minutiae point array, called a template, enabling BioLink to achieve the industry's lowest False Acceptance Rate and also resolve any end user privacy concerns.

"We are very excited to partner with CDW-G and leverage their extensive expertise and unparalleled customer service in the government arena," said Matt Flynn, Director of Public Sector Sales at BioLink. "In addition to increased security, the U-Match BioLink Mouse allows for substantial cost savings through the reduction of password-related help desk calls. End users will no longer have to remember any passwords, making their systems easier to use," he added.

The addition of BioLink products to the CDW-G GSA Schedule emphasizes CDW-G's dedication to serving its customers. "Because we work so closely with the government and education markets, we are in sync with their priorities," said Larry Kirsch, senior vice president of CDW-G. "Security is a top priority for government agencies. Adding BioLink products is another way we can fulfill our commitment to providing our customers with state-of-the-art products that meet their needs," he added.

The U-Match BioLink Mouse, which utilizes one serial port connection to transmit both biometric and mouse movement command information, is currently being implemented government wide, especially at the Department of Defense.
