CDW-G Adds New Companies to Small Business Partner Consortium
Consortium helps small businesses win federal information technology contracts
HERNDON, Va. - October 23, 2007 - CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Corporation and leading source of Information Technology (IT) solutions to governments and educators, announced today that it has added three new companies to its Small Business Partner Consortium and exercised the one-year contract options of nine current consortium members.
The new members were selected through a competitive process that started in May with CDW-G's annual request for proposals soliciting additional small businesses to partner with CDW-G on federal business opportunities. The consortium, launched in 2003, was created to help small businesses compete more effectively for IT contracts with federal agencies because they have the backing of CDW-G's extensive e-commerce, service and distribution capabilities.
Since 2003, many federal defense and civilian agencies - from the U.S. Air Force to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - have taken advantage of the consortium to purchase technology products and services.
"The CDW-G Small Business Partner Consortium is a win-win-win proposition," said Andy Lausch, director of federal sales for CDW-G. "Consortium members use CDW-G's breadth and depth of products to provide federal agencies with technology solutions that meet their unique requirements; federal agencies provide small businesses with contracting opportunities; and CDW-G identifies outstanding small business IT service provider partners."
The Small Business Act requires that 23 percent of prime contract dollars go to small businesses. In fiscal year 2005, more than a quarter of all federal prime contracting dollars were awarded to small businesses, according to the Small Business Administration (SBA). Small businesses did $79.6 billion in business with the federal government as prime contractors that year, according to SBA data.
CDW-G Small Business Partner Consortium members are included in numerous federal small business categories, and some members occupy more than one category. Overall, the consortium includes five 8(a) companies, four HUBZone companies, seven small disadvantaged companies, four service-disabled veteran-owned companies, and two woman-owned companies.
ABM Federal Sales, Inc., a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, joined the CDW-G Small Business Partner Consortium this year. ABM Federal Sales has nearly 30 years of experience serving federal government agencies.
"The CDW-G Small Business Partner Consortium allows us to extend our ability to serve our federal agency customers and support their mission-critical IT requirements," said Steve Nuelle, president, ABM Federal. "We are pleased to join forces with CDW-G - an organization that shares our commitment to providing federal agencies with optimal technology solutions to meet their unique requirements and within the timeframe today's government operations demand."
The three new members of the CDW-G Small Business Partner Consortium are:
- ABM Federal Sales, Inc., St. Charles, Mo. - service-disabled veteran-owned
- Meadowgate Technologies, LLC, Trenton, N.J. - HUBZone, service-disabled veteran-owned
- Govplace, Irvine, Calif.

Betis Group, Inc., an 8(a), HUBZone, small disadvantaged business is entering its fifth year in the CDW-G Small Business Partner Consortium. With over a decade of experience delivering mission-critical IT services to federal agencies, Betis Group is headquartered in Arlington, Va.
"Participating in the CDW-G Small Business Partner Consortium empowers us to deliver a broader and deeper range of leading-edge technology solutions to complement our portfolio of systems integration and IT services capabilities," said Hernan Cortes, president, Betis Group. "We have seen tremendous success with our relationship with CDW-G - exceeding our goals and enabling us to expand into Texas and Florida.
