CDW Recognized as Leading Military Friendly Employer
CDW makes G.I. Jobs Top 100 Military Friendly Employers® list for third consecutive year
VERNON HILLS, Ill. – November 14, 2011 – CDW, a leading provider of technology solutions for business, government, education and healthcare, today announced it has been named one of the 2012 Top 100 Military Friendly Employers by G.I. Jobs. This marks the third consecutive year CDW has been honored by G.I. Jobs for its efforts to hire and support veterans.
CDW has made it a priority to hire military veterans because of their many transferrable skills to the technology industry and careers at CDW. Among its many initiatives to hire and support veterans, CDW is a proud partner of the U.S. Army's Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program, which guarantees job interviews to qualified soldiers upon completion of their military service. CDW also participates regularly in veteran job search support programs and career fairs geared specifically toward attracting and hiring veterans. CDW coworkers with military experience actively participate in recruiting events to share with prospective job candidates how their skills and experiences could benefit CDW and their professional development. As a result of its ongoing efforts, CDW has increased veteran hiring by 31 percent to date this year compared to the same period in 2010.
Through its comprehensive "Achieve It! A Better You" coworker wellness program, military veterans at CDW are able to take advantage of programs specifically tailored to meet their needs, with topics ranging from post-traumatic stress disorder, to achieving and maintaining financial success. For those deployed while at CDW, the company offers internal engagement and support that includes a supplemental pay program for a period of up to two years. Currently, CDW is preparing for the roll-out of an internal veteran affinity group "connection node" designed to create connection and networking opportunities for current veteran coworkers.
"We actively hire military veterans because we find they often have the drive for results, commitment and teaming spirit we foster and our customers value," said Thomas E. Richards, chief executive officer, CDW. "We are proud of CDW's veteran hiring initiatives and the emphasis we place on ensuring they successfully transition back into civilian life. Our veteran coworkers are crucial in furthering CDW's position as a leading IT solutions provider."
The Top 100 Military Friendly Employers rankings are based on a survey which assesses a company's long-term commitment to hiring former military, recruiting and hiring efforts and results, policies for Reserve/Guard members called to active duty, and the presence of special recruitment military programs. The pool of companies eligible for the list is approximately 5,000 with minimum of $500 million in annual revenues.
