CDW-G Wins ECSIII Contract To Sell Technology Products and Services to U.S. Federal Agencies
Teams with SAIC to Provide Customers with Technology Products and Services
Vernon Hills, Ill. - December 3, 2002 - CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC), today announced that the U.S. National Institutes of Health's Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC) has awarded the company an Electronic Commodity Store III (ECSIII) contract to sell technology products and services to all federal government institutions. ECSIII is a multiple award, five-year contract that includes five one-year extensions the government can exercise.
CDW-G also announced it is teaming with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to serve ECSIII customers. The two companies will work together on client engagements to align customer product needs with integration projects or new deployments. This team approach will provide operational quality and efficiencies that help keep projects on budget and on schedule.
SAIC will provide IT consulting, systems integration and infrastructure operations services, and CDW-G will provide rapid access to thousands of brand name hardware and software technologies.
"We believe our new relationship with SAIC combines the strengths of each company to simplify the purchasing process for ECSIII customers," said Jim Shanks, president of CDW-G. "Together, we provide the most in-depth offering of technology products, services and customer support."
"We have greatly enhanced the IT purchasing experience for our customers," said Bob Cann, Group SVP for SAIC. "Customers can now select the products they need and at the same time choose the IT support services required for deployment, training, operations and ongoing maintenance. We're meeting the unique and special requirements of each customer."
Bringing Together Industry Leaders
Both companies have significant track records serving federal customers. NITAAC recognized CDW-G with a Top Performance Award for its ECSII contract. In August, a Government Computer News study polled federal IT managers on sites they use to buy IT products and CDWG.com was the leading supplier site.
SAIC is the nation's largest employee-owned research and engineering company, providing information technology, systems integration and eSolutions to commercial and government customers. Recent SAIC recognitions includes being named No. 1 federal systems integrator by Government Executive magazine and No. 2 in Federal Computer Week magazine's Top 25 Systems Integrators.
